How do I choose the right attorney?

Choose the right attorney carefully. Be sure the attorney you hire practices only personal injury law. My practice is devoted to helping injured people. My firm only handles personal injury law cases for injured persons or victims of other torts.

Spinal Cord injury to Quadriplegic Patient: A quadriplegic passenger strapped and secured in his van suffered a cervical strain-whiplash injury in a car accident. The 72-year-old retired Boeing engineer suffered a partial loss in the use of his neck caused by a chronic cervical strain and muscle spasms. This gentleman’s loss was significant to him as his neck was his sole remaining source of independence. Our client uses a wand, held between his teeth in his mouth, to operate his wheel chair by manipulating the wand between his teeth to operate touch controls on his wheel chair, to operate his computer, and to operate other aids in daily life. His wife was also hurt in the car accident and the UIM insurer, State Farm, offered only$35,000 the week before UIM arbitration. The parties elected to arbitrate her UIM claim. The UIM arbitrator awarded $101,000 plus taxable costs for the wife’s loss of her husband’s consortium and for his wife’s soft tissue injuries suffered in the same MVA.

Q. What is the first thing I should do if I am in a car accident?

A. First, if you are injured, call 911. Give as many details as to your location as you can. Then call the police. While you are waiting, get as much information as possible, including name and contact information of the other driver(s), license plate numbers, and contact information of passengers and eyewitnesses to the accident. Be sure to get insurance information.

46.61.060. Pedestrian control signals

Whenever pedestrian control signals exhibiting the words “Walk” or the walking person symbol or “Don’t Walk” or the hand symbol are operating, the signals shall indicate as follows:

(1) WALK or walking person symbol–Pedestrians facing such signal may cross the roadway in the direction of the signal. Vehicle operators shall stop for pedestrians who are lawfully moving within the intersection control area on such signal as required by RCW 46.61.235(1).

(2) Steady or flashing DON’T WALK or hand symbol–Pedestrians facing such signal shall not enter the roadway. Vehicle operators shall stop for pedestrians who have begun to cross the roadway before the display of either signal as required by RCW 46.61.235(1).

(3) Pedestrian control signals having the “Wait” legend in use on August 6, 1965, shall be deemed authorized signals and shall indicate the same as the “Don’t Walk” legend. Whenever such pedestrian control signals are replaced the legend “Wait” shall be replaced by the legend “Don’t Walk” or the hand symbol.
